Module 8: Resilience Skills
Areas of focus:
- Young adults need to be able to maintain effort and interest despite failures and adversity in order to succeed in their jobs and lives in general. It is important to be able to cope with traumatic events causing harmful emotional damage, decreased self-esteem and even depression. They need skills for how to get unstuck.
- Participants will be introduced to two techniques for managing internal stress; one known as REBT (Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy) and the other as CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy).
- Participants will also be exposed to self-esteem and confidence-building skills, and skills for learning from past mistakes.
Practical activity:
- In groups, examples of traumatic events will be discussed. In a group only for women they will discuss traumatic events such as gender-based violence and rape. Ways of living positive and healthy lives after the trauma will be discussed.
