Soft skills are a combination of people skills, social skills, and self-management skills. They include skills like communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, critical thinking, decision-making, organizational skills, customer care, attitude, mindset change skills, professionalism, stress management, adaptability, conflict management, leadership, creativity, resourcefulness, persuasion, openness to criticism, emotional intelligence, resilience, personal money management etc. Young adults leave the education system (at whatever level they exit) without learning soft skills because the focus for both the system and the learners is on theories, concepts, subject-matter knowledge, hard skills (also known as technical skills or professional skills), marks and grades. Very little attention is paid to soft skills. These skills are not specific to a particular profession, job, business, role, or lifestyle. They are needed in all types of work, business, and life situations. That`s why they are also called transferable skills. 75% of their long-term job success, the success of their children in life and that of their businesses depends on soft skills.
